Walks: St Margaret's The Smugglers
Distance 3 miles. You will see some great views of the English Channel from this walk as it takes in some of the cliff path.

St Margaret's at Cliffe is 3 miles north of Dover and reached by going east from the A258.

1. From the public car park, walk to the main street through the village near to the Norman church. Turn left, once you have passed the Hope Inn into Chapel Lane. Turn into Droveway Gardens and follow the concrete track as it leads to a road Turning right, and then left after 100 yards you will end up on grassy area with views of the sea.

2. Take the path that runs alongside the road as it goes downhill to the right of the green. Turn right at the Saxon Shore Way sign. At the divide in the road take the left fork.

3. Go past The Pines Garden and follow the road as it becomes a track and goes towards the cliff top. Follow the track as it takes you towards the Forelands lighthouse.

4. Go through a gate to the left of the cattle gird and follow the stony road. The road will lead you back along the cliffs, only slightly further inland.
