Your Storm: BBC Bus in Capel-le-Ferne and Sevenoaks

Capel-le-Ferne was one of the first places to be hit by the 1987 Storm, Sevenoaks one of the hardest hit. You jumped on board the BBC broadcast bus to share your stories and photos.

Capel-le-Ferne

One of the First areas to be hit by the storm that night in 1987 was Capel-le-Ferne which sits high on the cliffs between Dover and Folkestone.

CLIVE GOBLE ran the Village Hall and saw the devastation of the caravan park. He opened the Hall as a place of refuge for the villagers and their neighbours. He spoke to BBC Radio Kent's Jo Burn.

CAROLINE LEWIS' house was destroyed by the winds. Her home was so badly damaged it had to be demolished and rebuilt.

RAY CROUCH lost most of the windows from his cliff-top house, as well as slates from his roof, and caravans opposite his home just disintegrated.

MYRA GOGGINS brought a DVD down that her late father made. Aubrey Freezer spent the morning after the storm shooting video.

JOHN ANTON was out and about after the storm with his camera capturing images of devastation. These are some of his photos he brought along to the BBC Bus.

ALISON CLOAKE was due to work on the ferry Hengist on the day she ran aground near Folkestone, and Peter Chesterton worked on the vessel to get her back to sea. Take a look at some of their close up shots of the ship.

ANNE DAWSON was Mayor of Sevenoaks in 1987. It was her decision to plant seven new oak trees on the Vine cricket ground, even though only six had come down. Listen to our interview with Anne.

TONY MURPHY brought in his photos taken soon after the storm, as he travelled from Orpington , via Eynesford, to Sevenoaks.

Residents from the town and surrounding villages came on board the bus to share their stories. Here are a few highlights:
