Giving up smoking
Pippa Sequeira has been an acupuncture practioner for many years and practices in Chartham Hatch.
Acupuncture has been practiced for thousands of years and is part of Chinese medicine It can be used to treat a wide range of conditions and disorders, and by the insertion of fine needles the therapist taps in to the body's energy meridians. The idea behind it is to balance energy throughout the body.
The practitioner, and the patient, can often feel the energy passing through the needle when it is inserted. Pippa regularly feels a "tug" on the needle, and sometimes both people can get an electric shock.
Patients wishing to give up smoking will attend one or more sessions a week, over a number of weeks, and the acupuncture will help them deal with their cravings for a cigarette as well as helping them relax.
