BBC Kent: us and you

Below is a list of some of the most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) we receive. If the question you have is not answered here, please get in touch.

What's this website all about?

This website is all about Kent - the place, the people and events going on in the county. It's your site, and we always welcome your contributions.

The BBC Kent website is run by a team of two, based in Tunbridge Wells.

For the latest features/audio/video take a look at our What's New pages.

Below are hints and tips if you'd like to contact us, access all the website's content, send in your photos, make a Video Nation film for us, or tell us about your events.

Which area does the website cover?

The website covers the county of Kent and areas with BR and DA postcodes too.

If you're in the west of the county, BBC Southern Counties has events and information on neighbouring East Sussex.

What's on the website?

As well as words and pictures, many of our features now include audio and video too. The Video Nation section is a collection of your films. We supply am easy-to-use camera and some training, and then leave it with you so that you can tell your story.

For details of our sports coverage, including match commentaries and sports programmes take a look at our Match Day page.

To access the audio and video content you will need to have Real Player installed on your computer. Below any link to such content will be a link to download the programme. Here's an example:

BBC Webwise has lots more information on how to get the most from your computer.

Telling us about your events

To get your Kent events featured on our What's On listings, please fill in the form.  BBC Radio Kent may mention some of the events featured on this page too.

How do I send in photos?

All photos should be sent preferably as high-resolution JPEG files (.jpg, .jpe, .jpeg). They can be emailed to us at kent@bbc.co.uk

We're always looking for photos that show the people and county of Kent, and if you're see anything unusual or newsworthy, then please send in your images.

Due to the large numbers of photos we receive, we don't guarantee to use all of them. We try to give everyone a go, so don't often publish more than one or two photos per person per month, although there are exceptions. The more striking or unusual your photo the more likely it is to be published, and remember to make sure there's a obvious Kent connection too.

You can also use your mobile phone to send in photos and videos to 07921 648357

Who owns the material?

By contributing to this site, you are granting the BBC a non-exclusive licence to distribute and edit the material you submit in any way and in all media.

You still own the copyright to everything you contribute and you are free to take what you have written and re-publish it somewhere else.

BBC Radio Kent

You can listen to BBC Radio Kent on your computer by clicking on the Listen Live button at the top right hand side of this page. For copyright reasons, Gillingham FC's games are not broadcast online. Where possible, we provide commentary of another sporting event instead, sometimes exclusively on the website.

For help with DAB, reception advice and the station's and presenters' contact details have a look at the BBC Radio Kent section of this site.

 BBC South East Today
