Andy Garland

Andy has been DJing in one form or another since the early 1980s.

Musically his tastes are all over the place listing everything from Great balls of fire by Jerry Lee Lewis to Beethoven's Moonlight sonata amongst his favourites.

Andy has been at BBC Radio Kent since 1994 and in that time has presented most programmes on the station. He is now the voice the drive time programme Monday to Thursday 4-7pm and Sunday Gardening.

Andy is a bit of a football fan, he has taken part in several celebrity football matches for charity, memorably getting the chance to kick Ipswich and Liverpool legend John Wark. He reckons that he is not too bad after turning out on a couple of occasions in the Jewson South Western League, the starting point for former England goalkeeper Nigel Martyn. Nowadays he contents himself by attempting to play up front for the mighty Wilderpark Reserves.

Classic cars are one of Andy's passions. He currently drives a 1970 vintage Morris Minor but is still saving for his dream machine - a Jensen Interceptor.

Being a presenter means that Andy is often given the chance to do things out of the ordinary, and that was certainly the case when the South East Motor Sports Enthusiasts Club took him around the Lydden race circuit in Dover at what Andy describes as 'a fair lick!'

He's recently completed his Master's degree which means more free time to potter on his allotment, go to the cinema, or where he most likes to be - surfing at Widemouth Bay in Cornwall.
