Kings Hill Colts U8's v Wateringbury Boys U8's 5-0 & 5-0

Duncan Town
Invicta Primary League Central Division. 22nd October 2005.

Game One

A confident Kings Hill Colts side played host to Wateringbury Boys a week after climbing to the summit of the U8’s central league. With Wateringbury languishing near the foot of the table the expectation on Kings Hill was to maintain their undefeated record.

The game proved to be as expected but will be remembered for the amount of chances Kings Hill squandered than actually converted.

A scrappy opening by Kings Hill saw many chances slip by with poor passing and wayward shooting. That was until Oliver Alexanders’ shot in the 5th minute was assisted into the Wateringbury net by Kings Hill defender Elliot Thompson.

Alexander then showed his strength once again by collecting the ball in his own half and going on a mazy run past 3 Wateringbury players before unleashing an unstoppable shot past the rooted keeper, which even had the travelling Wateringbury supporters showing their appreciation. 2-0. Kings Hill top scorer Ryan Winter converted a third just before half time to make the score 3-0.

The second half continued to frustrate the Kings Hill supporters as chance after chance slipped by, but goals from Captain Samuel Meyer and Callum O’Mahoney secured the win for Kings Hill Colts. 5-0

Game Two

Wateringbury took the game to Kings Hill taking advantage of some scrappy passing and over confidence in the Kings Hill play. Samuel Meyer restored some order with some neat holding play before threading a ball through Wateringbury defence allowing Kieran Bedford to open the scoring.

Kings Hill piled on the pressure and after a second successive corner a Samuel Meyer shot was deflected past the keeper for an own goal. With heads high Kings Hill returned to the kind of football that has seen them shine this season, but still the chances came and went.

Kieran Bedford scored his second of the day to make the score 3-0 and on the stroke of half time Ryan Winter converted a solo effort to send Kings Hill in at half time 4-0

With the Colts players already feeling that this game was won, they took their foot off the pedal and the second half saw only one more goal added to the tally, once again by Ryan Winter. Some last remaining effort in the Wateringbury team saw the Kings Hill defence of Oliver Priestly and Kieran Andrews being at their best to maintain a clean sheet for Kings Hill.

Kings Hill Colts remain top of the Central League with their undefeated record intact.
