BBC Radio Operations Bursary Trainees

To work in radio, you have to be able
to deal with the unexpected.

Starting with this.

Like life itself, radio can be full of surprises. Live interviews. Music you've never heard before. Even having to cope with the odd technical blip.

But here, perhaps, is something that will really surprise you. The BBC wants to be as diverse and multi-cultural as the people who listen to it. That means we really want people from all kinds of backgrounds working here.

We're currently offering bursaries in radio operations which will give you a comprehensive introduction to the technical side of radio – everything from working in a studio to operating equipment on location. From using mixing desks to recording and replaying material from a range of sources. And along the way you'll sample some of the broadest radio output in the world, including stations such as 1Xtra and Asian Network.

So if you thought the BBC only employed a particular type of person, we hope that's opened your ears.

Applications to be received by 1 July 2007
