BBC Northern Ireland Trainee Scheme

What this Scheme provides...

  • A unique opportunity to train with the world's leading public service broadcaster
  • The opportunity to recognise where things are going in broadcasting
  • Freedom to make mistakes and learn
  • The opportunity to make a contribution to BBC NI's output
  • A chance to work across TV, Radio and Online
  • A chance to work as part of a very experienced team, to learn from them and to form lasting relationships
  • Training in relevant new technology
  • Training in the legal and editorial aspects of reporting
  • The opportunity to lead your own self development
  • The chance to make your programme ideas a reality
  • The opportunity to engage with audiences

And what it does not offer…

  • The opportunity to get all of your ideas accepted
  • The opportunity to move around whenever you want to – your roles and training will also be determined by business need as well as with your development in mind
  • A shortcut to a role as a Presenter
  • Glitz and glamour – standing outside courts or at a rugby match in the pouring rain is sometimes more typical of the work we do than hobnobbing with the stars! You will also be asked to get on the phone and to get the tea, so be prepared!
  • The opportunity to work 9am – 5pm weekdays only
  • Working in an environment where there are clear and never changing parameters– the broadcasting industry is forever changing
