BBC Northern Ireland Trainee Scheme
Introduction
BBC Northern Ireland is the region's largest Public Service Broadcaster. It currently employs 675 staff and has an annual budget of c£65 million. BBCNI aims to provide something of value for everyone in the community through a range of programmes and services which inform and stimulate debate, celebrate and support cultural and sporting life, and reflect local interests and experiences for audiences within Northern Ireland and across the rest of the UK.
At BBC Northern Ireland we want to lead the way in digital broadcasting and capitalise on developments in digital based technology. We aim to uphold our award winning programme quality and increase the number of programmes produced for network output.
To enable us to meet our objectives, we are looking to recruit 10 future content creators to start a 2 year training scheme in autumn 2007. We are looking for versatile people with fresh ideas to contribute across the range of our output. This is a unique opportunity for creative, inquisitive people with a technical aptitude to find their place in broadcasting.
Peter Johnston, Controller of BBC NI, says this about the scheme: "With such a rapidly changing political, social and technological context this is a very exciting time to work in broadcasting in Northern Ireland . The creativity of our content is determined by the quality of our people and this is a unique opportunity to recruit up to 10 of the very best to play a key role in BBC NI's future. The successful candidates will gain a rich experience of all aspects of content creation across a range of platforms and genres. Evidence from the last scheme shows that the individuals go on to exciting future opportunities within our industry."

As you would expect, we are recruiting the very best talent through our selection process. The BBC aims to truly reflect the communities we serve. We're working hard to create the kind of working environment and culture that recognises and values people's differences. And we'll achieve this by attracting, recruiting and developing the most creative and talented people from every section of the community.
We're firmly committed to equal opportunities and consider applications solely on the basis of merit – regardless of age, gender, race, ethnic origin, religion, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, number of dependents or any other factor. And we regularly audit our buildings to ensure accessibility for all staff and visitors with disabilities.
