BBC Journalism Trainee Scheme 2008-9

We will be advertising this year's scheme on 21st September 2009, to start in March 2010. Please revisit our site to find out more about this exciting opportunity.
In the meantime, if you'd like to find out more about Journalism at the BBC please visit our Virtual Careers Fair on 29th July. http://events.unisfair.com/rt/bbc~2009
This year's fifteen BBC Journalism trainees have been chosen and are pictured above with Deputy Director General, Mark Byford, and Course Director Claire Prosser.
They completed their initial training in March and have now begun online placements. This will be followed by local radio placements and television.
"I am delighted we are able to offer fifteen opportunities this year to join the Journalism Trainee Scheme.
We want to entice people who are curious, energetic and talented.

The successful candidates will have an exceptional opportunity to work in the world's largest and most trusted news organisation."
Mark Byford, BBC Deputy Director General
They are based around the UK - in Belfast, Cardiff and Glasgow - and across the BBC English regions. One will work specifically in Sport and another will work in News politics as the first Gareth Butler trainee, in memory of the BBC political editor who died tragically young.
More than 2,500 people applied for this year's Journalism Trainee Scheme. The fifteen successful candidates had to get through a rigorous interview and assessment process.
