TV Platform Group - responsible for non-linear products, services and platforms

  • On-demand text and short-form content, including enhanced programming, addressing specific audience needs in the post switchover world e.g. Sports portal
  • On demand long-form products e.g. TV iPlayer and TV Archive
  • Leading the development of emerging platforms e.g FreeTV
  • In-home distribution of video through STBs etc.
  • Continuous innovation of new formats and services using emerging capabilities including in-home distribution
  • Building a modern software development infrastructure with supporting processes and methods
  • Enticing, building and keeping great talent

Mobile Group - responsible for taking the BBC's mobile services to the next level

  • Delivering and maintaining mobile infrastructure
  • Providing support to divisional teams through shared enablers
  • Leading mobile product development
  • Optimising the browser service
  • More strategic use of messaging
  • Developing the on-demand portfolio
  • Laying foundations for mobile broadcasting
  • Using emerging Out Of Home networks

Digital Distribution Group - responsible for distribution, infrastructure and content management for all future media platforms

  • Infrastructure and distribution over IP-based platforms (web and mobile)
  • Interactive TV distribution infrastructure
  • Content management culture
  • Ensuring that technical architecture for all interactive services is up to the challenge ahead
  • Developing and consolidating content management systems

Digital Media Technologies Group - responsible for all cross platform on-demand digital media services (e.g. iPlayer and Embedded Media)

  • Delivering the next generation of iPlayer
  • Developing and delivering our plans for embedded media
  • Work with Vision, Journalism, and Audio & Music to ensure the BBC has a consistent Digital Media vision and strategy
  • Managing, augmenting and developing the talent within the delivery team

User Experience and Design Group - responsible for improving the user experience for the BBC's future media products and services.

  • Setting design & development standards, best practices - a single user experience for online, mobile and iTV Platforms
  • Creation & enforcement of Usability & Accessibility standards
  • UX work streams of Web 2.0, iPlayer/EMP including: Global templates and navigation, page layout, home page
  • Development of user journeys and experience across and between public service and commercial offerings

Collectively these teams are responsible for ensuring the BBC achieves its ambitions of developing and delivering world class future media services and technologies.
