Black Stats, Brave Yesterday, Marvel and Dirty Aces to play JL09

The four bands playing Jersey Live 2009

Four Jersey acts for JL09

In an Easter weekend packed to bursting point we've had Jersey Live winners, dance arena announcements and 1,000 tickets sold so far.

As well as finding out the four Jersey bands to play the Jersey Live main stage, that the other eight bands will also play the festival and that 1,000 tickets have already been sold - we also hear the first three acts for the dance arena.

Easter Sunday 2009, twelve local bands battled for their chance to play on the main stage alongside some of the big name acts from the UK at the Jersey Live Festival.

Battle of the Bands, took place at Bar Rock on 12 April, and was a real showcase of local talent, hosted by BBC’s Carrie Cooper.

All twelve bands were in with a chance of winning one of the four slots put aside for local acts at the festival.

Well, after a great night of music from the islands best original talent, four acts finally won through.

These are: BLACK STATS, BRAVE YESTERDAY, THE DIRTY ACES and MARVEL.

Festival Director, Warren Holt said: "The Battle of Bands was a fantastic event, local talent is definitely thriving!"

Other bands and third stage

But all is not lost for the remaining eight bands not selected to play the main stage. They will all get a spot at the festival.

The four winning bands will join a host of top and emerging musical talent on the Jersey Live main stage over the two day event.

So far Basement Jaxx and Casio Kids have been confirmed for Saturday while on Sunday Esser, Twisted Wheel, The Boxer Rebellion and The Kooks will play.

Early April the Jersey Live organisers confirmed that Norwegian space-disco electro troupe Casio Kids will be joining mod rockers Twisted Wheel, and unsigned act The Boxer Rebellion, to bolster an increasingly strong looking line-up.

Jersey Live confirmed earlier this year that indie-popsters The Kooks, and dance act Basement Jaxx would be headlining.

The Cream Tease charity fancy dress stage/tent will be back for 2009. This gives those looking for a break from the main stage a chance to have fun, dress up, raise money for charity and enjoy some great music.

Jersey Live 2009 will also see the return of the Silent Disco hosted by Gallery Magazine and, for the first time a third live stage.

It isn't all about the main stage though. Every year festival organisers manage to pull together an incredible line-up for the dance arena (second stage).

This year is no different. So far for Saturday: Andy C & MC GQ, London Elektricity, Beardyman, Dan Le Sac & Scroobius PIP, Annie Nightingale, Terminal State and DJ Spim have been confirmed.

Tickets

The first 2,000 tickets for the festival, which is on the 5 - 6 September, went on sale at midday on Sunday 5 April, and are available from the Jersey Live website.

The first 1,000 tickets have already been sold with organisers saying: "Phenominal response from early release tickets, first 1000 have already gone! Don't miss your chance to be part of the biggest event in Jersey this summer."

bren
WHATS HAPPENING WITH CAMPING? [TENT TYPE]

Look no further
2 great jersey bands... R O M A N C E & THE GAA GAA'S are tearing it up in the UK at the moment! would be great to see them on the bill :-)

Surely...
If a band doesn't seek the information to get involved into the initial battle, they can't expect be on the set. No point complaining about it!

Snooker Roo
Which best bands in Jersey are you referring too?

Mark
I think it's a shame a lot of good Jersey Bands aren't playing this year because they didn't know about the Battle or came heard too late. The best local Bands should be playing and not only the bands from the contest.

Jimmy
Brave yesterday for sure!!

Tricky
Good to see that Drum n Bass meister DJ Spim playing again. Worthe the entrance fee alone

Meh
Am going to JLive to see a whole load of top local bands in one place + Kooks and Jaxx. Couldn't give a monkeys for the usual cluster of unknown myspacers that clutter the main stage all day...local bands generally better anyway. See you all @ Cream Tease : )

Jo
Not sure about the line up so far but looking forward to supporting the local acts, Black Stats and Brave yesterday are going to be great this year

Karl
u knows it:-), like you said it's just about Bands who have a lot of Myspace clicks and friends but nothing else.I wanna see Bands with future and history or local Bands that don't go with the Mainstream Indie Bands

Sarah
Open your mind and think why nobody heard them HA HA HA

Jack
@tom Snow Patrol or SFA have been around a long time and Snow Patrol just deserved to be successful.Casio Kids or Twisted Wheel might be great for a small Festival but will never be big in Europe.Think Twisted Wheel Night Club in Manchester (great Northern Soul)was big.

u knows it!
Too many pretentious acts on the line up - where's all the proper bands? This festival used to be about music, now its about fasion and myspaces top rated one week wonders (apart from the jaxx).

my name is.....
so pleased for all bands well done everyone what a great night thankyou jersey live, black stats def are my fav you guys are brill!

Tim
The Black Stats rocked the other night so pleased they went through best band in jersey!!! see you a jl09 boys

Tom
Twisted Wheel and Casio Kids are a LOT better than Super Furry Animals and Snow Patrol, both of those bands are dull.

Just because you haven't heard of a band doesn't mean they're not good. Open your mind and let the music in.

Jack
Gone the days when bands like Super Furry Animals or Snow Patrol played

craig
Black Stats rocked the joint best band in Jersey!Congrats boys!

Black Stats have to go through! They are awesome!!!

Maria
I would like to see Brave Yesterday and Crowne, I saw them play at the Channel 103 BOB and they both rocked, There should be more Jersey Bands playing or a Jersey Stage.
