Kooks to close JL09

The Kooks and Basement Jaxx have been confirmed as the headliners for Jersey Live 2009.

We're now in 2009 and the countdown to the sixth Jersey Live festival of Music has started - with a selection of tickets already on sale and the first six acts already announced.

Headlining the 2009 festival main stage on Saturday 5 September will be global dance act Basement Jaxx and the Kooks will close the festival on Sunday 6 September.

Warren Holt, director of Jersey Live, said: “The Kooks have one of the biggest and most loyal fan bases in the business, their first album Inside In/Inside Out shifted more than 2 million copies worldwide with huge hits including 'She Moves In Her Own Way', 'You Don't Love Me'', Ooh La' and 'Naive’, They’re also one of the few British bands to have found success in both the UK and the US and we are ecstatic to have secured them as our Sunday night headline act.”

This is continuing on from the massive reaction The Prodigy received after headlining on Sunday this year.

This looks like its going to be another storming Jersey Live closing set with the promise of the bands unique catalogue of good-time genre-defying party classics along with tracks from their new album due for release next year.

Then in the dance arena you'll be able to see Andy C, London Elektricity and MC Wrec, Beardyman, Dan Le Sac and Scroobius Pip as well as Annie Nightingale (Radio ).

There is also a petition running at around 1200 signatures calling for camping to be added to the festival from next year.

Have your say

Who else would you like to see be added to the Jersey Live festival line-up for 2009? Would you like to see camping added?

What's up with all the drum & bass in the dance arena? Any chance of getting some decent techno and underground house acts like Joris Voorn, Minilogue or more well known like Danny Howells or Underworld? I like the way that just as The Kooks' popularity is on the slide they're booked for JL, nice one Warren! With regards to camping, no chance.

no more zutons! we want the coral
i was lestening to the corals first album the other day and had totally forgot how great it was. songs like goodbye and dreaming of you are superb pop songs that would get a festival crowd dancing their socks off. instead of the zutons who i'm more than fed up with, book the coral.. a band with more adolescence and better songs!

a RAPTURE FAN (surprisingly)
get THE RAPTURE!!!! ...get THE RAPTURE!!!! ...get THE RAPTURE!!!!

I don't think some of the people complaining have any idea just how much some of these bands cost to book. For a festival with a capacity of only 10 thousand to get the Kooks and Basement Jaxx is impressive, especially when you think about hte extra cost of getting htem here and putting them up. Take a look at other similar sized festivals in the UK and compare the JL headliners to those festivals and not massive ones like Glasto and Reading.

J
not impressed by the kooks either!

For the first time since it's inception i won't be bothering this year. Rather than ramp up the calibre of act being brought over there seems to be a distinct liking for bringing over old or mediocre acts and labelling them as headliners. Basement Jaxx, seriously? The Prodigy were a headliner, Basement Jaxx are at best a support act who have released nigh on nothing in the last 5 years (and i say that having seen both full live gigs)Seriously Warren's - stop bringing over previous acts like the Zutons and the Kooks and spend a bit of money getting a world class act here or i cant see JL becoming anything more than a cheap local little two dayer where it has the potential to be a world class festival.I have spoken to a few people now with varying musical tastes and each has said unless there are a number of surprising support acts they just won't be bothering this year.

Keen as Fook
Basement JAxx as a headline act is "laugh out loud" stuff. Have a word! WOuld welcome Kings of Leon on the mainstage and Laurent Garnier or John DIgweed in the Dance Arena

Nikki
Nice bookings so far guys. Kooks are a great band live!!!

J
well start by getting rid of a mediocre dance act like basement jaxx... headliners... really? they can do better than that surely?!secondly, if guernsey live could get biffy clyro last year, will it be jerseys turn this year?

Red cone laser
Please can we also have the prodigy back as I was absolutely mashed when they were over this year, and I really can't remember much of their performance
