It can be easy to forget in today's over commercialised world but Easter is not just about holidays and chocolate eggs. Easter is the most important Christian festival. It celebrates Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead, three days after he was executed. ![]() Jesus was crucified on Good Friday and his body was buried in a cave. The following Sunday some women visited the grave and found that the tomb was empty. Jesus was sighted for days afterwards by many people and his followers realised that he had been resurrected by God. The PassionReverend Patrick McManus has recorded the story of The Passion for BBC Radio Jersey. Help playing audio/video "The Passion story is still a horrifying account of how goodness can be destroyed by all sorts of human and political jealousies and agendas - but I always see the passion story with the story of the resurrection close in my mind. "And with such humility as any of us can muster I give thanks for the single minded love of Jesus Christ, the son of man and the son of God who's last days on earth give us hope for eternal life in the here and now and the here after." The Passion will also be retold in a new drama that will be shown on BBC One this Easter. The last week of Jesus Christ's life will be told from three different viewpoints: the religious authorities, the Romans and Jesus himself. last updated: 07/03/2008 at 16:32 Have Your SayWhat does The Passion mean to you?
