Bergerac

In the words of Jersey’s latest comedic musical sensation, Hedley le Maistre: “there’s more to this ‘ere island than bloody Bergerac”.

Of course he’s right but it is one of the first things people say upon finding out you live in Jersey – “Oh, Bergerac was filmed there wasn’t it” – after asking if you were a millionaire of course.

As well as being a leading light for the islands tourist industry in the 1980s Bergerac also gave many islands their first take at being on TV – as extras or in small bit parts.
