Over 9 million visitors have been welcomed on board for tours, programmes and visits to the floating bookshop. With stops in over 280 ports of call, this unique ship has visited 76 countries, including Africa, the Americas, Europe, the Near East and many island nations. The international educational vessel is visiting St Helier from 21-25 June 2007.

Logos II is staffed by an international crew, who volunteer their time on board as a practical expression of their faith. Through their service and generous agreements with book publishers, the selection on board is offered at prices affordable to citizens of developing countries. In late 2006, visitors coming on board in Port of Spain, Trinidad brought the equivalent of eight shipping containers of literature – over 100,000 books.

Accompanying the practical work, Logos II offers conferences and teaching seminars to further assist local communities. Onboard facilities allow several hundred people to attend a range of programmes, from cultural events for schoolchildren to AIDS presentations in developing nations. The conference rooms also host the crew's daily devotional sessions and weekly prayer meetings. Each year an average of 500,000 visitors come on board, stretching resources and the crew. To meet that need, a larger vessel, Logos Hope, is undergoing renovation in a Croatian shipyard. With sufficient finances and crew, Logos Hope offers the possibility to continue serving the world’s neediest through ships. |
