Ted Reynolds

Ted Reynolds

The Fabulous Fifties & Super 60’s Music Show.

Join Ted Reynolds every Saturday lunchtime for what he describes as `a two hour wallow in some of the best music of all time`, in the company of such artists as Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Bill Hailey, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Lonnie Donegan and Bob Dylan.

"This show isn’t just about older people recalling their youth," says’ Ted, "my 38 year old  son was raving about a Chuck Berry track that he’d heard for the first time last week.

This is 'new music' to him and his generation, my mission, and I’m delighted to  `accept it`,  is to  help keep all those great artists and genres from the 1950’s and 60’s pertinent and available to his generation, mine and the ones following.`

The joy of this show is that whilst Ted is obviously passionate about the music he hasn’t forgotten that his brief here is to entertain as well as inform.

This he does with a well crafted programme packed full of fascinating out of the way facts and features all laced together with Ted’s gentle humour.

Smile with Ted whilst enjoying a  good wallow in `The Fabulous 50’s & Super 60’s Music Show` every Saturday lunchtime here on BBC Radio Jersey. `It’s a really good `listen`.

Ted, Love the show. Thanks for putting it on. I live in California and listen to the hear it again site. Let your techs know that they invariably stop the show with about 10 minutes to go.

Hi Ted, thanks for a great Fabulous fifties radio show. 1959 was featured. I listen via the wonders of internet radio, living in Birchington, Kent. Loved the four back to back 1959 records, including Here Comes Summer. Special memories on that one.Keep up the good work. There are still many of us old rockers still out there. All best, Dave.

FTAO Ted Reynolds - Ref the sadly now late Dave Dee, following your comments on last Saturday's show, my wife Heather (then Froud) was a nurse at Salisbury Hospital many moons ago and remembers very well Dave and the band in the pub you mentioned, it was called The Rising Sun, sadly now demolished. Dave used to write most of the lyrics; they tended to use the paper serviettes and in the end the landlord just used to put a pile of serviettes on the table and they got on with it!! Regular listeners in Jersey here, best wishes, Colin & Heather Ireson. (I'm (Colin)off to Monday's Morris Dance practice!).

Hello again Ted. After some research on Google I found out that a song I remember from my final year at the local Grammar School in 1962 is called "I went to school in Cheltenham" and is by Tsai Chin from "The World of Tsai Chin" on Decca.I haven't heard this since those times. Can you oblige?

Margaret Stamps
I try to listen to the fabulous fifties and sixties every week, I love his choice of records and he presents it in such an appealing way that it is a pleasure to listen in and I wouldn't want it to change in any way, thankyou Ted from Maggie

Sorry John I couldn't locate that track by Roy Castle. Will carry on looking for next Christmas though! Best wishes, Ted

I listen to Radio Jersey online from South Devon. I well recall your feature on Gillham Gold on Radio Devon in times past. You very kindly answered my query as to why Anthony Newley was referred to as "dislikeable" in a book I had read. The late Roy Castle had a minor Christmas hit with "Little White Berry" in 1960. I was studying for my A'Levels at the time. Could you dig it out for me?I'm a great one for nostalgia.

Patricia
The best nostalgia show on the net!

Elvis Kempes
Hi, Mr. Reynolds! How about you? Things are getting well? One more time, thank you very much for the beautiful excerpt dedicated to Anthony Newsley (in your last show). No words to describe you my happiness, it was really a good moment. Fortunately I recorded it - in the computer - and now I can listen to it whenever I want. And this is really wonderful.Smiles from your brazilian frindsElvis Kempes (with Tom & Mirando - sons - and Dindi - grandaughter)(Thu, May 3rd 2007 - 3:06 PM)
