Ian Kelly

Ian is Spotlight’s Assistant News Editor.

Ian is Spotlight’s Assistant News Editor and spends most of his time producing the programme and keeping everything running smoothly.

A native of Lincoln. He has worked in a wide variety of departments around the BBC.

“I’ve vision mixed in the CBBC’s broom cupboard with Andi Peters and Ed the Duck, researched for Have I Got News for You, provided technology support for the Natural History unit and even managed to spend a year directing for an Arabic broadcaster in Rome.

"But I’ve spent the majority of my time working in news. Before moving to Jersey I was working for the BBC piloting video journalism.

"With a small camera and laptop editor I travelled the UK and the world making films in New York, Belarus, on sailing ships, in a very cold Sweden and let’s not forget the week in Sunderland!

"I now manage the TV news operation in the Channel Islands and am lucky enough to work with 14 very talented video journalists.

"What do I enjoy most? Having moved from a landlocked East Midlands, it’s brilliant being able to cycle to work every day along the stunning Jersey coastline, even if there always seems to be a head wind!”
