The Blue Gown

Listen to BBC Jersey's winning short story, The Blue Gown by Christine Buckland.

Earlier in 2006 BBC Jersey held a Short Story Competition which was judged by international top selling author Harry Patterson (aka Jack Higgins).

He chose Christine Buckland’s ghostly tale The Blue Gown as the winner, which he described as “absolutely terrific”, saying that it had “overtones of Henry James at his best”.

On Christmas morning as islanders opened their stockings and munched on their first mince pie of the day they had the opportunity to listen to Christine reading her story on BBC Radio Jersey, complete with atmospheric music.

If you missed The Blue Gown going out across the airwaves, or enjoyed it so much you want to hear it again, then you’re in the right place. There’s a copy available for you to listen to over and over again here on bbc.co.uk/jersey.
