Pat Robson from The Harbour Gallery chose a Bob Booth painting as her piece of 'Divine Art'.
FIELD OF FLOWERS
The Harbour Gallery, Le Boulevard, St Aubin
Why does it inspire me?
This impressionist painting by former Jersey resident and curate of St Aubin on the Hill can be found in a collection of his work at The Harbour Gallery.
Pat Robson, who would not describe herself as religious, said this painting sprung to mind when I asked her if she could think of a piece of art that hold some sort of spiritual inspiration for her.
"This painting has a very special feel about it," she said, "when I look at it I get a sense of calm and uplifting".
Bob Booth has used warm colours in the foreground which are a "good compliment" to the cool greens in the background.
"I used to come into the gallery in the morning and just stare at it for ages," explained Pat. "Your eyes latch on to the foreground and rush back to the trees. I want to discover what is in the light behind the trees."
"It's amazing," said Pat, "when you stand close all you see are these big brush strokes and you can't tell what the picture is. When you walk away it all falls into place."
I suppose that could be a very spiritual analogy indeed.
