A Digital Guide to BBC Jersey
Find out the different ways you can watch BBC Spotlight CI news via your digital TV or internet connection?
BBC Spotlight Channel Islands news is broadcast digitally on BBC ONE via satellite and the Internet.
Digital Satellite (DSAT)
BBC Spotlight Channel Islands is transmitted via digital satellite. If you have a digital satellite receiver box you can watch BBC Spotlight Channel Islands at 18:35 and 22:25. All you have to do is select channel 101 (BBC ONE - your region) if you are in the Channel Islands.
Channel 101 should display the regional news from where you live - this is determined by your postcode when you get your viewing card.
If you are not getting the BBC Spotlight Channel Islands region on channel 101, and you think you should be, then your account details may need to be upgraded.
If you are outside the Channel Islands area but still want to watch the Channel Island news you can select other BBC regions (channel numbers 941 upwards).
You can watch BBC Spotlight Channel Islands news via the internet (now in broadband). This will not be live or of the quality of tv transmissions but you can view from anywhere in the world with just a modem connection.
You will be able to watch the previous nights 22:25 bulletin.
Note: The broadband version is only available for UK viewers
Why can't we get Freeview or DAB in the Channel Islands?
The digital transmissions use a different frequency bandwidth which - for the Channel Islands - would interfere with French broadcasts.
Equally, there are parts of the UK which also cannot receive digital broadcasts at the moment.
It has not been ruled out that the Channel Islands will be served in the future, but this may be some years away yet. This is owing to decisions being made between the British and French governments.
