Yes, I'm back on the evening programme after more than a year of presenting Jersey Today; and I have to say the sleep is very welcome! To bring you up to date on what's become a very busy life, I live in St Aubin after buying a house there at Christmas. Its beautiful, all granite and old wooden beams. I share the house with my six bikes (yes, really!), and my lovely girlfriend Caroline. She's a drama teacher and, (prepare to go aaahhhhh) we met when we played Romeo and Juliet at Samares Manor. (pass the bucket!) The bikes keep me fit and out in the open air, and I race regularly for the challenge. When I'm not out pedalling, chances are you'll find me under water - I love seeing the other part of Jersey, because there are so many things to see in our waters; from mean looking lobsters under rocks, to shy cuttlefish flashing their colours in warning as you approach.
 | | Eddie Catflap |
Of course the other inhabitant of our house is Eddie Catflap, the most famous moggie in Jersey. After living with us for just a few months he was hit by a car and hurt his back legs really badly. Thanks to some wonderful care from the vets and lots and lots of cards and good wishes from you, he's now back on his paws and just as moody as he ever was! He's the kind of cat who will be your best friend if you have some food to give him; if not he'll give you a dismissive sniff and go to find a more likely source of nourishment. The picture of him here shows him in his regular place. Despite giving him special cushions, beanbags, etc, he always sits on MY rocking chair - and dares you to move him. The only time he really came a cropper was when he yawned and stretched so much he actually fell off the chair, much to our amusement. The look he gave us though was one of such disdain we soon shut up.... In the rare time when I'm not busy with all of these things you'll find me at a beachside café in St Brelade or St Ouen, outside in most weathers, with a HUGE pot of tea and a book. I read far too quickly for my own good, so usually have to take two or three books with me. They're usually biographies, because I always find fact far more interesting than fiction. So give me a wave if you see me out and about; I'm always up for a chat!
