Ryan Morrison caught up with Stef, one half of 2 Many DJs and rock band Soulwax while he was in a record store in Antwerp choosing tunes for their next gig. In the interview Stef talks about how he chooses tracks to play at gigs, knowing the Glimmers and not DJing in Belgium. | "We never rehearse, we take a box of records and just play and see if the crowd dances." | | Stef, 2 Many DJs |
Stef tells us how 2 Many DJs never rehearse, they just play tracks, see what people dance to and change it as they go along. He also goes on to talk about how he likes The Futureheads but that the problem with playing a festival is that you are normally on at the same time as the bands you want to watch (the same may well happen this time as well). He talks about his current tour that has taken him from Holland to Austria, France, Belgium and Belfast with his band Soulwax. He tells us about his new album Soulwax the Night Version, a remix of their rock album that is coming out in September, a remix they have done for The Gorillaz and a new 2 Many DJs album that may well be on the horizon.
2 Many DJs are headlining the THEORY dance arena at the Jersey Live festival 2005, they will be on at around 9pm and finish at 11pm, if you want to catch them and Kasabian you should be in luck as Kasabian don't kick off until 9.50. The interview was first broadcast on BBC Radio Jersey (88.8fm & 1026mw) as part of a two hour Jersey Live bank holiday special, for more entertainment interviews, news and reviews tune in to BBC Radio Jersey from 13:00 - 17:00 Monday to Friday for the afternoon show.
