The band create an avalanche of new fans everywhere they play, the band give us a little info on what they play, who they are and their background.

The Merge

The Merge formed back in Feburary 2001. The band were bought together by Ross who had wanted to form a band for a while with an initial line up of Swanny, Ross, Jonathan, and Mark. At this stage Swanny sang with Ross on guitar, Dauny on bass while Mark had played drums for two hours! After three hours practice the band played their first gig at the Normandy Hotel in early March under the name of 'Morning Wood'.

Gary James then joined on lead guitar and Nick Healey became a second bass player. Seeing as these two were from another band the name changed to become The Merge. With this line up the boys preceded to play various gigs in the summer of 2001 achieving moderate success as well as making the first steps to becoming a recognised act on the Jersey Live scene.

In September 2001 the band split. However in the summer of 2002, the band reformed with the absence of Gary James, and with Swanny now playing guitar. With this line up they recorded their first E.P, 'Nothin' Like Rock and Roll'. After this the band played a few gigs with even more success. The band took a break from the live scene in September 2002,this time knowing it would not be for good......

.....In May of 2003 the band again got back together after a short break to concentrate on improving and harnessing their new sound as a 5 piece, this time with Nick playing keyboard and with Ross now the full time singer. With this new formula the band achived great success, impressing both friends and strangers with their melodic guitar sounds, and insessently catchy choruses, during the summer of 2003. Headlining such nights as 'Morrocan Roll' (August 2003), and impressing indie lovers in Chester, the Merge's status as an upcoming live band had been well and truly cemented.

2004 saw the band re-enter the Jersey Live scene with a new confidence and swagger which brought a lot of success for the band, including playing 'Rock In The Park' infront of 2000 people, and opening the Jersey Live festival, which included established UK acts such as The Delays, Razorlight and The Thrills.

Unfortunately towards the end of 2004 the band split with bass player Jon Dauny, but did recruit a new bass player in the form of life long friend Jordan Reid. 2005 sees a new member for The Merge as well as a new and higher expectations that will surely be met with the same ferocity as 2004.
