Wheelchair award to Kevin McDonnell

Kevin McDonell wins the Tim Collins Memorial Trophy for Wheelchair Sports Person of the Year.

Kevin lost his lower leg following a road accident in the 1960’s and has never allowed his disability to get in the way of sport.

He has been the Wheelchair Sports Manager for JSAD for a number of years and has successfully led the JSAD Jersey Wheelers wheelchair basketball team to many successes, and in latter years has also taken up the sport of wheelchair tennis.

Earlier this year Kevin was a finalist in the singles national championships held in Gloucester, and in 2003 was one of the successful doubles partnership who won the Novice National Championship.

Kevin has a lively personality and JSAD owe much to his dedicated work with all wheelchair sports in Jersey.

He was presented with the Tim Collins Memorial Trophy for Wheelchair Sports Person of the Year, together with a bursary of £100, at the Merton Hotel by Dorothy Patterson, JSAD Administrator.
