Start at the Living Legend. Come out of the main entrance and turn left down Rue du Petit Aleval. After a few yards turn right into La Rue du Coin Varin. This is one of Jersey's Green Lanes, which have a 15 mph speed limit. In the distance is St Peter's Church and note the unusual concrete building without a roof on your left which is a relic of the Second World War.

Turn left into La Rue du Coin Varin, which becomes La Rue du Panigot, and enjoy fine views of St Aubin's Bay, with Elizabeth Castle in the distance. Passing a number of attractive cottages and farmhouses, continue down Le Mont du Panigot.

At the bottom, cross the main road, La Grande Aleval, with care and follow the sign for the footpath on the right-hand side. Turn up the footpath and at the end of the path turn left up Les Gelettes, which is quite steep. Where the road becomes La Rue de la Ville au Bas, turn right down Mont du Rocher.

Near the bottom of Mont du Rocher is a track leading to the car park of the German Underground Hospital, built during World War Two using Russian slave labour. Coming out of the car park, the walk continues up Les Charrières Malorey, a road which is flanked by impressive old pine trees. Look out for the red squirrels which inhabit the area.

Turn right into Le Chemin des Montagnes passing steep-sloping, south-facing fields, used for growing the famous Jersey Royal potato. At a crossroads, turn right into La Rue de la Fontaine St Martin, in which you will find the beautiful old National Trust for Jersey building Morel Farm, built in 1666. Look through the arch and you will see the old marriage stone with the initials RLG and the cobbled entrance. Outside the farm there are some granite steps, which ladies used to climb to get into their carriages. Continuing down the road you pass a working farm, La Fontaine, and at the bottom of the hill you will find an abreuvoir, where animals can be watered, and further on, the spring La Fontaine St Martin which gives its name to the road. Turn up Le Mont l'Evesque, passing Le Rat Cottage, which dates from the 16th Century.

At the top of Le Mont l'Evesque turn left into Le Mont Sorsoleil and continue past the turning to Le Mont Isaac to a crossroads. Cross over the road which is called La Rue Rouge Cul (Red Bum Road) and proceed along La Rue des Bessières, at the end of which you will come across St Matthew's Roman Catholic Church. Turn left into La Rue de la Ville au Bas.

At the end of the road turn right into Le Pissot, which leads back to the Living Legend.
