Cross over into the lane immediately opposite, keeping
the football field on your right-hand side. The lane bends to the
right then to the left (after the granite houses), then descends
a steep hill. At the bottom of the hill, turn left onto the main
road, then fork right (Rue du Moulin de Bas), and immediately right
again, passing below the dam at the bottom of Queen’s Valley
Reservoir. Just past the Lower Mill Pottery on the left, the road
rises sharply: turn left here and climb the steep hill alongside
the reservoir. A walk around the reservoir is highly recommended
(no bicycles are permitted).
Keep straight along this lane. There are wonderful
views to Gorey Castle to the right. At the main road turn left down
the hill. The main entrance to Queen’s Valley Reservoir is
at the bottom of the hill. After the granite arch on the right-hand
side, turn right into Rue de la Chouquetterie.
Cycle up the hill and turn first left (Rue du Bouillon).
Take the next left into Rue de Beauvelande, then second right (Rue
de l’Orme) and left at the T-junction (La Longue Rue).
St Martin’s Church and the Royal Hotel are
just off to the right here (detour down Rue de Payn). Cross the
main road by the Catholic Church at the end of La Longue Rue and
head straight on until you reach a fork in the road at Le Houquet
House. Fork left here (Rue du Carrefour), go across the main road
into Rue des Cabarettes, turn right at the T-junction and turn immediately
left into Rue du Pont, which is sign-posted to Victoria Village.
Turn next right into Rue de Diélament. This lane leads to
the back of the Zoo. Take the last turning on the left just before
the rear of the Zoo (Rue de la Fosse, becomes Rue des Cateaux).
Continue until you reach a T-junction. Turn right. You are now in
La Verte Rue, which brings you onto the main road close to the Trinity
Arms and Holy Trinity Church.
Cycle past the church in the direction of Ville
A l’Evêque (B51). Turn right into Ruette de la Ville
A l’Evéque, then right into Rue Coutanees and right
into Rue de la Fontaine de Colard. Turn right at the main road and
first left into L’Allée.
At the T-junction turn left (Rue du Nord), crossing
into Rue Coutanche, and then Rue de la Petite Lande. This will bring
you out onto Rue des Platons (C97). Turn left towards the west and
Bonne Nuit Bay. There is a viewpoint a little further along on the
right, where often there is an ice-cream van to be found. The first
turning on the right will take you on a detour to Bonne Nuit Bay.
To avoid the detour, keep to the left at this point
(Rue Asplet becomes Rue de la Monnaie, then Rue de la Mare des Prés).
At the first yellow line across the route, turn left, then right
at the second yellow line onto the main road (Route de Mont Mado).
Turn first left into the pretty wooded green lane, turn right at
the end, then immediately left. Cross over at the next junction,
continuing down La Rue du Pont.
After the short hill at the top of this lane, turn
left and immediately right into Rue du Bel au Vent (which becomes
Route de St Jean), then second left opposite La Houguette (Rue de
St Germain/Rue des Servais).
At the main St John’s Road, turn left up the
road and first right by the small cemetery (Rue des Houguettes/Rue
des Haies). At the end of Rue des Haies turn right (Rue de Brabant,
which becomes Rue des Ifs). At the main road turn left, then first
right into Rue de la Croisene.
After the right-hand bend, turn left down into the
valley (Rue au Bajlqi) and first left up a sharp hill (La Commune).
Notice the parish boundary stone at the top. Turn right and first
left into Rue du Ponterrin. At the next crossroads, turn right into
Rue du Chateau Clairval, which becomes Rue de St Mannelier, then
Mont Sohier, then Bel Air Lane.
At the T-junction at Deloraine Road, turn left.
Cross into Chasse Brunet, over the first and the second main roads.
After St Saviour’s School, turn left and across the main road
into Rue de la Retraite. After the next bend, there is a steep descent
then climb. Be careful - this is not a ‘green lane’
.
