In 1970, as a 19-year-old student, John was hitch-hiking his way up the coast of California when he was spotted by Davy Jones, the British member of The Monkees, who invited him to stay at his Hollywood home. In this programme, John tells the fascinating story of the world's first manufactured pop group and catches up with Jones, 40 years on.
