In the first of Radio 1's Story of the Noughties, Zane Lowe takes us back to the year 2000 - the music, the people and the events. As the clock chimed midnight and January 1st 2000 dawned, the first thing that became apparent was that the world hadn't imploded as a result of the much-feared millennium bug. That drama over, the year 2000 went on to be a phenomenal year for music, tv and film.

In this programme US blogger Perez Hilton tells us the story of Kylie's comeback involving gold hotpants. We hear how Coldplay experienced a meteoric rise to fame in 2000. And Zane explains why Eminem was THE hip-hop artist of the moment.
