Roland and Francis Prout

Paddle power

In the late 1940s and early '50s, Francis and Roland Prout were the country's top canoeists, representing Britain in the 1952 Helsinki Olympics.

The brothers may have been skilled sailors, but they were also boat builders by trade. Francis and Roland worked in the family boat building business making folding canoes and dinghies.
