Once our landscape was covered in apple orchards, but pressure for housing has caused the disappearance of many of them and countless varieties have vanished forever.

So how many apple varieties are there?

Michael Clark has made it his life’s work to try to track down our long lost apples. He’s even rescued the Hitchin Pippin from the brink of extinction.

At Tewin Orchard in Hertfordshire he’s doing all he can to make sure other rare apples not only survive but thrive.
