Information for BBC content producers
Whilst the main focus of I&A’s work is on maintaining the BBC’s Archive and providing material for use in BBC programmes, the department is increasingly working with other organisations outside of the BBC.
Long standing relationships exist with the British Film Institute (BFI) and the British Library (BL) who provide TV and Radio access for academic research purposes.
For further information regarding access to BBC material for academic research purposes, please visit these links for the BFI and the BL.
Projects currently underway with external organisations include the following:
- The provision
of digital of digital files of preserved BBC Radio Archive material to the
British Library.
- Digitisation
advice and expertise to the National Archives regarding the digitisation of
London 2012 Olympic footage, deposited with the National archives by LOCOG.
(The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games).
- Common
approaches and strategies for web archiving with the British Library.
- Provision of BBC drama programmes to an Arts and Humanities Research Council funded project researching TV dramatizations of Theatre plays.
