What we do

The BBC has accumulated one of the largest multi-media archives in the world and has created a programme catalogue providing a rich source of metadata upon which the BBC has relied for decades.

I&A collaborates pan BBC to ensure that our digital content is delivered both to our customers and to our audiences "whenever, wherever and however" they want it, leading to further creative exploitation of our content.

BBC I&A’s role provides the BBC with a diverse range of media asset management services which supports the programme making process and ensures that our valuable content including television programmes, radio programmes and photographs ('media assets') are stored and made accessible for research, reuse and heritage purposes.
