All our buildings are changing for the digital broadcasting future, with new technology and new ways of working.

Digitally advanced

Our new building developments are state-of-the-art centres where we can make and broadcast digital content: not just programmes for your TV and radio, but also online content and audio and video clips for mobile devices like phones and MP3 players.

Our latest projects are the Media Village in west London, The Mailbox in Birmingham and Pacific Quay in Glasgow (all already open), Broadcasting House in central London (in progress), and the BBC at MediaCityUk at Salford Quays.

Flexible and creative spaces

To make better programmes, creative people need to be able to work flexibly – at any time and in any place – so our workspaces are changing to make this possible. BBC staff can now carry their offices with them on laptop computers and use shared desks at a variety of sites ('hotdesking'). People can work together at team tables, and brainstorm in 'think tanks' or in spaces that recreate the experience of our audiences – whether they're teenagers in urban Britain or a small village community in Nigeria.

Open and accessible

More and more, we're opening our buildings to you so that you can engage directly with broadcasting. You can come and be part of the audience or look behind the scenes at what happens in programme making. And in many BBC centres around the UK, you can also have a go at producing your own audio and video, or be a direct part of programmes going on air.
