In September 1999, the school was re-opened as Kingswood High School under the Government's Fresh Start initiative.

The school has received over £3.5 million to ensure the best facilities in the Performing Arts, Science and Technology.

Kingswood High School will become a specialist college in the Creative and Performing Arts and has a vision that sees the school as a centre of excellence, which will raise the aspirations and expectations of the entire local community through Arts and Technology.

Kingswood High runs its own community radio station called 'Kingswood Live'.
