Digital Story

Hands Up Who Likes the Seaside? by Peter Michael Jagger

Tell us about yourself:
I like to describe myself as a creative person, a writer with a life-long interest in photography and lately computer processed images. I enjoy beach-combing along this stretch of the coast.

What’s your story about?
The story is made from scanned photographic negatives 6x7cm and these are some of the strongest images that I've got on file. The pictures are at least 27 years old and most of the holiday homes have long since disappeared. In photographing them I appreciated the opportunity to get some very clean images.

Why did you choose to tell this particular story?
Finding these old retirement and holiday homes was a revelation and I saw them through the child's eye of my seaside holidays. The individuality of expression through their mainly improvised constructions appeal to the free thinking part of my psyche.
