New
York singer/songwriter William Nowik crossed the Atlantic to team
up with acclaimed Kurdish band Gul Naz and local artists Angel 6,
to give the last night of the Humber Mouth festival a global flavour.
Gul
Naz were the first band to perform on stage and the organiser's
couldn't have picked a better band to start the gig off and raise
the audiences' spirits.
The
band's founding members met three years ago in an immigration office
in the UK after fleeing Saddam Hussein's regime in Iraq. Since then,
the group has gained a national reputation for creating infectious
dance music and attracting large audiences wherever they play.
Next
on stage was William Nowik, whose works include War
Assets Display Room and A Novel
Series of Stories with Photographs, Illustrations and Music,
he voiced his opinions of the war in Iraq, through music and poetry.
William followed up his anti-war messages with local band Angel
6.
Angel
6, whose member Lou Duffy-Howard organised the event, ended the
evening on a harmonious note.
