BBCi Humber met up with Adam (vocals / Guitar), Marc ( bass / vocals)
Lil (drums) and Gary (drums) just before the band's gig at the Welly
club.
A
game attempt by Adam to check the questions prior to the interview
was declined.
We reckon Torsohorse are going to be massive, so this interview
cannot be a shallow cop-out!
When
you named yourselves, did you have the mythical Centaurs (human
torso, horse's body) in mind?
Marc:
No it was a completely random thing really. We thought it
sounded quite cool and it was different. It stands totally on its
own.
Do
you go into Bridlington dressed like that for a night out?
Adam: Yes

Do
people ever try to run you out of town? Adam:
Some people would like to think they could, but they wouldn't stand
much chance.
What’s
the best gig you’ve ever played?
Adam: Probably the Raw Talent
gig at the Asylum.
You
have to carry two drum kits to gigs. How do you get around?
Gary: In a Volkswagen Pick-up.
It's got this sheet that goes over the top when it's raining. That's
about it.
During
your final song in the Raw Talent final you played a few bars of
gentle swing before going back to the thrash barrage. Are you into
light jazz?
Adam: I am. I studied music
at college at the Ryley centre, and we had to play a lot of jazz
stuff during the college course, so I do know a bit of stuff like
that.
We thought it would be funny to do it at the gig, it was originally
a dare, someone bet us that we wouldn't, so we did.
If
the story of the band were made into a movie who would you like
to play you?
Gary: Probably Brad Pitt
Marc: I suppose if you could
get Brandon Lee back, he'd do an accurate portrayal.
Adam: It would have to be Britney
Spears.
Gary: Lil could be played by
some old dinner lady that we found on the street.

Are
you ever going to do an unmasked show?
Adam: I don't think so, no.
This latest thing that Slipknot did, unmasking... I've read some
of the nasty letters that their fans have written about it. I wouldn't
want to face that.
Have
you ever shared a gig with a band that was completely unlike you
and whose fans were totally perplexed?
Adam: It happens quite regularly
really... But with things like Raw Talent and 'Monsters of Swill',
a festival that we played in Pickering... There were a lot of bands
that were totally different to us down there, but we still went
down a bomb, people really liked us.
Are
you proud of the TV trail you did for us?
Adam:
Yeah, it's pretty cool. It's been good for us. When we've been walking
down the street you get the most unlikely people you'd expect to
know us saying 'Are you that gang off the telly?'.
What's
the most rubbish pet you've ever owned?
Lil: A mouse. Cos it died after
two weeks.
Gary: The crappest pet I had
was a hamster because it had a rectal prolapse. After a year it
just exploded...
Lil: My fish moulded, I dropped
it down the sink and it must have cut itself.
Gary: What were you doing with
it on the sink?
Lil: I was cleaning the tank
out.
Marc: I had two guinea pigs
once, and I killed them both by accident. I opened a door and squashed
one and while I was looking for the other I stood on it. I was gutted,
I must've been crying for weeks.
Adam: I've had quite a considerable
amount of rubbish pets. When I was younger I used to take home Frogs,
or anything I could find that moved. But I suppose goldfish are
quite rubbish pets really aren't they...

Are
there any backwards messages on any of your tracks? Adam:
No, but we have considered recording one.
Marc: If you listen quite closely
in one of them there is a 'Satan is Lord'.
It’s
quite tough to make out the lyrics on your songs. How many swear-words
did you manage to smuggle into your Raw Talent recording?
Adam: None really, we don't
really use bad language at all, sometimes if you're really emphasising
a point there'll be one or two in there. But generally there's not
many in there at all.
Gary:
It's already been done and it's gone. Dead.
