It's the first week of the games and mum Jill gives her thoughts and reactions to Hollie's performance. Hollie threw 29.10M her Personal Best being 32.25M in the Javelin Final. She had picked up a shoulder strain in Macau and still had some twinges after the competition. Hollie felt disappointed at her performance. But we think in a massive arena like the Paralympic stadium, to represent your country for the first time ever was a very big mountain to climb and she did herself and the Paralympic Team GB proud. ![]() She was last to throw in the competition and due to a technical hitch was kept waiting for quite a while before she threw her first javelin, so that must have had a big impact on her throw. She conducted herself with great composure in the throwing arena and for a 14 year old to be faced with that pressure was immense. But she was excellent, did not show her nerves and did exactly what her coach Shelly Quarin had taught her to do. We, as parents, are so proud of Hollie just getting through to the Paralympics at 14 years of age. We can only agree that this was her learning curb for 2012 London Stage, where we know she will pick up that gold medal and still be only just 18 years old.
