She completed a diary for BBC Humber about her progress, experiences and thoughts during the games. Read the first instalment of her diary. Hello everybody, I've just finished my training yesterday with my coach Shelley Quarin. She hopes I do my best that's all she can ask for, and to not worry about anything just go out there and enjoy myself and the experience and hopefully get a personal best. On Saturday, I'm going to Manchester to stay at a hotel because I fly on Sunday to Macau, the training camp. ![]() My feelings are nerves at the moment because I just want to do my best and try to win a medal hopefully, but at the same time I'm really excited to go. The experience of being chosen to represent Great Britain and to be the youngest athlete competing in athletics is fantastic. I am a bit upset today because we have had to cancel our family holiday at Christmas to Egypt, because the expense of getting me to Beijing has spiralled out of control, but Mum and Dad say that Beijing is more important than a family holiday. Can't wait to see my friends from team GB especially Nathan Stephens (thrower) and Ian Jones (runner) they have been great friends to me and helped me with advise on my first Paralympics. The next time we speak I will be in Macau training camp, so will have lots to tell you then. last updated: 22/09/2008 at 17:15 SEE ALSOYou are in: Humber > People > Paralympic Diary > Hollie Arnold's Paralympic diary - Week 1
