Thank you so much for your prayers and financial support. As we come at the end of another the month I want to thank God for everything that He has provided for us through your team in UK. Thank you My journey in running the school has not been an easy one, and your generosity eases my burden. Thank God for all your prayers and everything that you have done to my family and the entire Swanland School Nairobi. It has been a hard road for me. I want to thank Sister Shirley and her team for all the encouragement that they have offered to me all the time. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This has helped facilitate my goal of giving back to my Native community. First and foremost I would like to say thank you for standing with me and for helping achieve my God given vision to help these little angels. School activities Both schools have just finished the monthly evaluation tests and are preparing for end term examination in three weeks time. The candidates class thus class seven and form four are completing their pre - mock this week. Next month they will be doing the provincial mocks to prepare them sit for the national exams on October 27th. New Head Teacher ![]() The new school jumpers Since Mr. William our former school manager left to work with the government we had not replaced him until this month when we appointed Mr Patrick Murunga to take over his position. Mr Murunga has been working with us for the last two years as deputy principal in the high school section. His obligation will be to oversee the general running of the schools, to recommend on hiring and firing of teachers and to support the deputy principal, Head of department s and teachers. He also will co ordinate on parents, teachers and students affairs and call for parents meetings. He will check teachers’ records and schemes of work. The primary head will remain Mr Shioso and teacher Ziporah respectively. Esther Naswa who has been in computer lab has been promoted to work as a school recording clerk and coordinating typing and printing of exams. My wife will continue to help in the accounts office as she will continue with her college studies. Education Inspection We also have had inspectors from the ministry of education this week. Luckily they found everything fine and I had just appointed the new administration whom they interviewed while they went through the records. Public health Inspection On 6th of this month we received public health officer to our School and we took them round to inspect the school and they gave out the following recommendations. In the boys dorm we need to fix with the ceiling board and the sides are to be covered by the plywood to prevent mosquitoes from entering, we also need to provide a toilet and bath room with septic tank so that during the night the boys can not walk up to the school toilets that are a bit far from the dorm. They recommended that the we do the same thing we did to girls’ dorm. New Library ![]() The school library They also recommended repair of the Library. The floor is almost off and it is very dusty. The window pain in the library needs to be fixed to avoid the dusty from outside. As you know our Library is one of the first buildings that we made when we moved from the old school and it was done very quickly that is why we will be forced to do it fresh. When the renovations are complete we will rename it The Charles Coombes Library in memory of Shirley’s Father. In the kitchen they asked me to repair the roof to avoid water entering during the rainy season. The iron sheets are the ones that we used from the old school. Please pray with us as we try to fixed everything that has been mentioned in the inspection report. They have given us fourteen days but I’m writing a letter to the ministry of health to plead for more time to do all the things that they have recommended. Thank you for your generosity. I intend to use my experience and skills in achieving my goal in becoming the first person in my community to have a school like this that is serving the needy. I thank God for you all and happy that my three older kids have gone through the high school level which was a dream for me. last updated: 07/07/2008 at 11:34 SEE ALSOYou are in: Humber > Faith > Pastor Hudson's Diary > Pastor Hudson's Diary: June 08 |
