Red Nose Day

Hornsea Scout Group

Hornsea Scout red noses

By Robert Carlisle, Scout leader
The Hornsea Scout Group turned their normal activity evenings into fundraisers for Red Nose Day.

On Monday 12th March it was the turn of Cubs, who are aged between 8 and 10, to have fun while raising money. They had a fantastic fancy dress competition and games.

Thursday saw the Scout and Explorer sections (who take boys and girls from 10 to 18 years of age) have their turn.

For the privilege of turning up in various outfits in red they all paid £2 for which they enjoyed a selection of off the wall games and hot dogs drinks.

Cream pies

The grand finale of the evening were the cream pies!

The scouts and their parents who had donated the most for charity were rewarded with a surprise.

Actively encouraged  by a large crowd, they pelted cream pies into the face of Rob Carlisle, the Scout leader.

So far they have raised over £90. It was all in all an evening of what scouting is all about - having fun and helping others.

This year is the centenary of scouting and there are lots of great events planned for this region as well as nationally.
