The BBC Open Centre is home to many events but never one as eerie as this. On 31st October 2006 the Centre was suitably decorated with spirits, pumpkins and skeletons to play host to local paranormal investigators, "Ghost Chasers" and the national spiritual magazine "Vision". Ghost Chasers brought along some extremely technical looking equipment, showed films during the day of local ghost busting operations and fielded questions from curious visitors to the Open Centre.
Meanwhile, the "Vision" Team, (Diana Jarvis, John Addey and Sammi Addey) were on hand to discuss anything spiritual and alternative. "Personally, I prefer a traditional Halloween." said Diana who is a medium, Wiccan and Editor of the magazine. "I like the idea of Halloween being a time of reflection, remembering our ancestors and getting the family together to have fun with Halloween activities such as apple bobbing." "Even Trick or Treating has some roots in English history." explains Sammi, the founder of the magazine and a Reiki Healer. "Children would go door to door dressed in a disguise asking for food for the Halloween celebration but it certainly wasn't anything like the Americanised version we have today." Throughout the day, visitors to the centre entertained each other with tales of their own ghostly experiences. I was staying in a motel but couldn't sleep. Suddenly, I felt something pull the quilt, I felt afraid but pulled it back. I turned on the light and had a sleepless night. The next night I couldn't sleep again. I had turned the light off but soon put it back on again. The third night I left the lights on all night. However, something shouted in my ear "MARIA" I jumped up and shouted back "Leave me alone". The amazing thing is I'm deaf. VISION READER It happened at the Grand Theatre where we heard a woman's laugh when no one was around and we think we heard a table being moved in another dressing room yet when we went in there was no table. We also heard a scrape and a knock which we can't explain. MIKE SMITH, GHOST CHASERS. Recently we have had to call upon a Christian pastor to undertake the blessing of a property in Hull that had a spirit pulling a neighbour out of bed by the ankles during the night and moving the bed. The Christian pastor blessed the flat in the name of Jesus and since then there's been no return.
