Hull based Ghost Chasers carried out a number of experiments broadcast live on David Reeves’ Late Licence programme. The team used high tech equipment such as motion detectors and voice recording devices to try and gather evidence of ghostly goings on. They were joined by Diana Jarvis, a psychic medium, who tried to contact the spirits. She claimed to have picked-up the presence of an elderly man who haunts one of Look North’s edit suites.

Journalists who work in the edit suite have reported strange happenings, with buttons being activated with no-one being near and the computer screen playing up. The BBC building is built on the site of the former Custom and Excise offices. It overlooks Queen’s Gardens; which was originally Queen’s Dock, until it was filled in and converted to a park in 1935. Mike Smith, who leads the Ghost Chaser group, says that he remains open minded about the supernatural and that he and his team are looking for solid evidence. “A lot of groups out there want to prove that ghosts do exist and, if that is the case, then surely they already believe that ghosts exist, so why bother to investigate?” |
