Twelve year old Ryan Proctor from Goole recently took on the flight of his life, parasailing eight miles across the Humber from the bridge to the Hull ferry dock. The eight mile marathon flight launches the annual charity parasailing event where members of the public are invited to raise sponsorship, with the winner taking on the flying challenge.
Last year the charity event had raised over £1,100 for Macmillan Cancer Relief, where Ryan was the runner-up raising over £200 for the charity. The winner, Debbie Claydon, was so impressed by Ryan’s determination and fund raising abilities that she kindly donated her marathon prize flight to the young contender. The organiser of the charity event, Steve Webb from Humber Parasailing, said: “For a 12 year old kid to be so dedicated to raise that much money I think he’s a role model for most other 12 year olds.” This year the challenge will be raising funds for the local charity, Hull and East Riding Institute for the Blind.
