The Women’s Photography Collective is a unique Hull based community group was formed in 2005. Its aim is to reach women that normally do not have access to women’s services.

The Collective is supported by organisations like the Hull Women’s Centre, the University of Lincoln, and WAM (Women Arts and new Media). Adele Clough, a member of the Collective and Project Coordinator of the WAM Project said: "The Women's Photography Collective is based at the Hull Women's Centre with a number of partners in the city. It's for all women throughout the city, of all ages, who have interest in photography. "In Octber 2005 the Collective was involved in a high profile campaign linked to United Nations Day in which women from across the city were invited to take photographs on the subject which attracted a good response.

In order to expand the group’s activities the members are appealing for old and disused cameras. Glynis Neslen, Photography Learning Adviser said: "The purpose for this is to provide free equipment for women.
There are a lot of people who have cameras at home that they don't use. We're looking for any sort of camera: analogue, SLR, manual, the older the better in a sense, but also digital cameras." If you would like to donate a donate your old camera please take it to the Hull Women’s Centre, which is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10am to 3pm. |
