Helen Selby, BBC Humber Blast Reporter

Meet Helen Selby Humber Blast Reporter 2005

Helen Selby has taken advantage of the BBC's young reporter scheme 'Blast' to bring you items of interest to young people in the area.

I am sixteen years old and although I was born in Beverley in East Yorkshire, I was brought up in the city of Hull.

I am a student at Wilberforce College, an exciting fact which dulls in comparison with this startling piece of information: I am allergic to peanuts and animal fur.

Amongst my fondest memories is one from 2002 when I went parascending in Spain. I was literally high as kite during that experience.

"I really want to get some experience in journalism while I'm so young, in order to get a head start. Writing is something which needs practise!'"

My ambition is to become a journalist when I've been to college and university. I really want to get some experience in journalism while I'm so young, in order to get a head start. Writing is something which needs practise.  This is why I applied for the BBC's Blast reporter scheme.

However,  I'm not ruling out the possibility of working in the film industry, perhaps as a writer or a director.  I don't have any ambition to become an actor but if it brought me closer to working with my film hero, Johnny Depp, I just might consider it.
