WELCOME TO YOUR BBC OPEN CENTRE!

Surf the internet, attend a course, relax and enjoy a coffee while watching BBC Radio Humberside being broadcasted – all this possible in your BBC Open Centre in Hull.

A busy morning in the Open Centre

BBC Guides are happy to welcome you into the centre from 9am until 7pm Monday to Friday, and 10am until 4pm on a Saturday.

A very popular facility of the Open Centre is the free internet service available. All you have to do is come to the Open Centre and ask a BBC Guide to log you on and off you go! You get half an hour free per day and five prints free of charge, after which each print is only five pence. The BBC Guides are always happy to help you with any problems you may have and will make sure you have a pleasant visit.

Learn new skills for free


Do you need help with computers or want to learn to become a volunteer in your community? The Open Centre Learning Zone has given people the opportunity to learn Spanish, alternative therapies, digital photography, web design, video editing and jewellery making - among other things! So come into the Open Centre and ask a guide or call 01482 323232 to find out what courses are running at any time and expand your knowledge for free!

Ever wanted to sit on Peter’s red sofa or meet the breakfast duo- Carl and Gloria? By booking a tour you can find out how radio is produced and how the news reaches Peter Levy. See the studios and meet the people who make Look North and Radio Humberside possible. All you need is to have six people interested in coming along with you and then call Marcus Heald (tour organiser) on 01482 323232

Relax and spot the stars


Want to chill and quench your thirst? Both hot and cold drinks are available at our coffee cart. So can buy a cold drink and cool down and chill in our air conditioned Open Centre, or enjoy a hot cup of coffee to wake up. Sit back, relax and watch the line up of presenters broadcasting on BBC Radio Humberside. See the faces behind the voices - you might be surprised!


On top of all this, every Saturday the centre hosts a Family Learning Day, where all the family can learn while they play. Activities include arts and crafts, computer sessions and games.
