DIY SOS team

DIY SOS team

The DIY SOS team always works hard to transform homes and lives. Find out more about the team's building and design credentials below.

Brigid Calderhead

Brigid Calderhead

Brigid is back with the team after a short break - bringing all her talents, and good sense of humour, with her. Having run a soft furnishings business alongside an interiors business Brigid has always been involved within the design industry as well as having her own client base. Very much a hands-on designer, she's also run arts and crafts workshops for children. Trained as a graphic designer, and with a marketing MA under her belt, she' s been a stylist for photo shoots and designed for trade shows, and private homes.

Julian Perryman

Julian Perryman

Julian started his career at 16, building houses with his father. He's a skilled and versatile builder, but is often kept busy on the show with less structural jobs like plastering. He has a broad knowledge of both modern and traditional properties, and has a good sense of humour that never fails to brighten the most adverse of DIY situations.

Mark Millar

Mark Millar

Mark served his apprenticeship as a carpenter in Ireland in the late 1970s. Now based in Bristol, he's worked all over the UK, Europe and in the USA. He is the team's newest recruit, and proves himself in the new series - never shying away from carpentry challenges big and small.

Chris Frediani

Chris Frediani

Chris learnt to plaster the old-fashioned way, starting at the bottom of the trade at the age of 17 and working his way up. He has worked in Britain and abroad, on both modern and traditional projects. He’s been in DIY SOS since series one, and always has a positive attitude to the job in hand.

Billy Byrne

Billy Byrne

Billy learnt his trade as an electrician in the 1960s, but then went into lighting for films and TV (in fact he still does the lighting for other BBC productions such as Holby City). Another original DIY SOS member, he’s the clown of the team.

Nick Knowles

Nick Knowles

Although Nick is best known for presenting DIY SOS, he’s also presented a whole wealth of other BBC shows, including Departure Lounge, City Hospital and Holiday Hit Squad. Not afraid of hard work, Nick mucks in, works hard, and has his fair share of fun with the rest of the team.
