Ashtead Cricket Pavilion
Ashtead Cricket Pavilion
Room: Other
Colours: Purple; Lime;
Style: Modern;
Budget: Low
Programme: Changing Rooms
Designer: Gordon Whistance;
Feature: S-shaped screen, bar area
Say 'cheerio' to the old school and cater for the generations to come with a colourful room zoned into areas, darker for the bar, and paler for the children's and tea areas.

Click on the images below for a larger version

Walls
Walls
Paint the bar end walls and ceiling in a dark mauve. User a paler mauve in a metre wide strip to split the room, and the children's end in the palest mauve. Paint all the woodwork in white, including the ceiling in the middle and the children's area.
Floor
Floor
Paint a lime green border to define the bar opening and bar security cover. Fit carpet tiles in three shades, with the darkest tiles in the bar half of the room, a metre strip down the middle, and the palest tiles to match the pale side of the room. Mmmmm
Screen
Freestanding S-shaped screen
Make the flat base from MDF, cut out five layers of S-shaped MDF and build up in layers (horizontally) to a height of 1.8m (leaving a distance of about 45cm between each). Make the rods they are attached to from 5cm x 5cm timber. Decorate the screen.
Bar
Bar
Cover the bar top in black and white checked lino using contact adhesive. Cover the front of the bar in hardboard, paint it lime green and then, using pva glue, decorate it with 7cm diameter purple sponge balls, cut in half using a polystyrene cutter.
Chairs
Chairs and tables
Prime then spray the chairs using a paint spraying machine, half in lime green, half in dark mauve. Clad the table tops with white lino using vinyl adhesive. Before sticking it down, cut out a stag shape from the lino, then fill the space in green.
Lighting
Lighting
Ask an electrician to fit four lights, each with five light bulbs on. Fit across the walls and ceiling in a jaunty way from the existing light sources, as they are bendable and can be manipulated into certain area.

Finishing touches
Choose six small, round tables to go in the bar area, and ten little, white stools to go in the children's play area. Put the original club photographs back on the walls, and add a little greenery to the room with parlour palms and floor standing plants.
